Travel and Tourism in California is a Big Industry

California is a huge state, and travel and tourism in California is rewarding, diverse, and there are many options as to how you can travel the state. You can do it by car, by train, by air, or by RV.  Some people even travel it by bicycle, which is a rather risky way to do it, given the traffic there.

The coastline of California is gorgeous and full of public and private campgrounds if you choose to travel by car or RV. Highway 1 runs all up and down the Pacific, and there are many campgrounds which are priced fairly reasonably. Of course the coastal towns see most of the travel and tourism in California, especially during the summer. Traffic can be quite congested during weekends and holidays, so if you dislike crowds, consider travel and tourism in California during the off season. Hotel rates are also lower during the low season (fall, winter, and spring), while campgrounds have stable pricing year round.
